on the other side
as matt so kindly suggested, it would be informational (if not entertaining! *tadaah*) for me to blog about the comings and goings of a doctor
so, why not start with my registration at the GPs?
out of pills, in a new part of london. need to register with the GP and sort out my prescription.
registering involves being badgered with questions. and being on the questioning side of the equation takes all the power away.
this makes me realise how much health professionals can bore you with information you already bloody know
any family history of heart attacks or strokes?
paternal grandmother, in her 70s
and diabetes?
yes, type 2 in my paternal grandfather
any cancers?
lung cancer with lobectomy in my maternal grandmother. and she never smoked.
liver caner in my paternal grandfather. and he never drank.
so do you do any exercise?
i drive to work everyday. and rely on ward work for burning calories.
*haha*
riiight. you should really try to do more exercise. you should be aiming for 30 mins -- at least -- in a day. you've got lots of risk factors. and it'll help to reduce those.
do you eat healthy foods? do i need to talk about good dieting with you? you should aim to increase the vegetable and fruit content in your meals.
no shit. you don't say lady...
on the plus side, i was given loads of free NHS stuff
(note how i emphasized on the free. surely the student days of freebies has worn off now?)
- contraceptive advice
- condoms (yes! i'm under 25, i get those latexy honeys for free)
- an STD test
- a one silver topped pee pot for (apparently) "proteins and sugar"
WOW
honestly. if the NHS wants me to continue using the service, they need to think about candy and clarins products as giveaways.
now i've just come out the other end feeling fat and slutty.
x D
btw, i have a BMI of 19, a cholesterol of 3 and have been veryveryvery good with the other thing
